The paper compares indigenous Ryukyuan music from the 18th centrury and climate and geological history of the Ryukyu Islands. It is proving that Ryukyuan songs can be used in climate and geoscience education, offering not only valuable insights but also opening up new collaboration options between cultural practitioners and researchers.

Intercultural research and education is a topic of interest to many, and questions such as diversity have recently (Jan 2025) become highly topical.

This paper will be of particular interest to both the broader geoscience community and the media. It explores how press releases influence the framing, narratives, and actors represented in subsequent newspaper articles, using ocean plastic pollution as a case study. The authors shed light on the critical role press releases - and, by extension, research institutions - play in shaping how ocean plastic research is communicated to the public. These findings, along with others presented in the paper, offer valuable insights to help inform and guide future geoscience research communication.

Breaking silos is key to science. A tool as investigated by this work, to show interesting related abstracts across silos could have considerable value. In the editorial team's anecdotal and personal view, the tool implemented at EGU's recent General Assembly in 2025 is was very valuable. So, this work is of interest to the organisers of larger conferences in all fields.

This work highlights the importance of visualization in hazard mapping and decision making. It provides a set of examples and concrete recommendations for creating intuitive and accessible fire progression maps, supporting wildland fire operations, research and public information.
